I hate the boring, reptitious hip hop garbage that seems to be loved by both Americans and Europeans. To me, it's like nursery rhymes for babies. When you read the lyrics, there aren't any words or ideas that couldn't come from someone in the sixth grade. It's pathetic.
I miss voices like Karen Carpenter. I miss singers who really meant what they sang with all their heart, like John Denver. Luckily, Rush is still going strong.
Here is a snipped of Rush lyrics. Compare it with the grade school drivel you hear nowadays from hip hop and rap:

I miss it so very much!! Where oh where has my Bee Gees gone? Or Little River Band or Styx or What about the Doobie Brothers and Three Dog Night??? Ok so some of them are more 60s than 70 and 80s but, Dang! I miss them, too!

I do enjoy the music form the 70s even though I was born in the 80s. I like Donna Summers, the Bee Gees, the Carpenters, etc.

I was an 80s gal and I still love it! Love listening every Saturday night on the radio as they have a saturday night 80s night. They play the best music! Everything from Culture Club to 80 hair bands.

Without a doubt, which is why I listen to classic rock stations. I love Rush, Zeppelin, Maiden, Queensryche, Queen, Sabbath, Deep Purple, Blue Oyster Cult, The Cult....there are no bands like them these days...

What doesn't really surprise me is that many of these new artist's are lacking talent, they can't even write songs because they are singing everyone else's songs.
A few days ago I listened to a Launch Cast video clip of Marilyn Manson singing "Sweet Dreams" by Annie Lennox... You want to speak of someone not having talent but appears to have a good impersonation of a vampire.

I do too. Most current rock songs can't hold a candle to those classic rock tunes.

BTW, probably one of the best classic rock bands touring currently is Foreigner. Best musician ? I have to go with Gary Numan who puts on an incredible live show.

Yes! Yes! Yes! I am old but I still love Rock n' Roll!! Esp. Southern Rock aka Allman Bros./Lynard Skynard/ Bob Seger/ but my kids make CD's for me of all my favorite groups!! These groups you could sing along with and Yes the songs told a story!!

I miss it so much! I agree with your lyrics comment, it's sad, these days the artist don't even write their own songs. What happened to true talent, now it is all about computers and synthesizers, why even bother? The artists you named were/are great, but I miss the true rock, I hate all the eyeliner wearing "punks" of today!
