look for Langston Hughes in the children's section at your local library. He's one of my very favorites!!! Harlem Renaissance is my favorite era in history!

I have a dream, said Martin Luther King
We're gonna make that dream come true.
Let freedom ring, said Martin Luther King,
It's up to me and you.
It's not the color of your hair,
It's not the color of your skin,
It doesn't matter what you wear,
It's the character within.
I have a dream, said Martin Luther King
We're gonna make that dream come true,
Let freedom ring, said Martin Luther King
It's up to me and you.

...some teacher came up with this for her students it's actually a song but you can use it as a poem i suppose...

"To You"
©1993 by the Estate of Langston Hughes

To sit and dream, to sit and read,
To sit and learn about the world
Outside our world of here and now---
Our problem world---
To dream of vast horizons of the soul
Through dreams made whole,
Unfettered, free--- help me!
All you who are dreamers too,
Help me to make
Our world anew.
I reach out my dreams to you.

This one is the best reading, Enjoy.
