Yes, you are correct, 800m is half a mile. A standard track, is usually 400m all the way around. So, going from that, 1 lap is a quarter mile(400m), 2 is half a mile(800m), 3 is three-quarters of a mile(1200m), and 4 is one mile(1600m). For the shorter ones, such as a 100m, that is the length of one complete straightaway, or the length of one compete curve. 2 miles is just double of what a mile is, which is 3200m. And of course you probably know that m stands for meters. And since a mile is 5280 feet, 1600m is about the same. So thats pretty much it about tracks, pretty basic, nothing much.

Well, lets see.
A half mile is 880 yards.
A quarter mile is 440 yards.
But, nowadays they use the metric system.
100 meters
200 meters
400 meters
800 meters
1500 meters
3000 meters
5000 meters
10,000 meters
800 meters therefore would only be 866 yards, which is short of 880 yards required for 1/2 mile.

Precisely, 800m is 0.497 miles while 805m is 0.500 miles.
Still, as regulation track inside lanes are 400m long and are measured from a foot out from the inside of the innermost lane, and you aren t generally running exactly a foot from the line,if you run around a track twice, you ve probably covered a half a mile. If you want to feel as if you ve exactly covered a half a mile, just run another 5m past the line.

1 mile is = to 1.6 kms 1 km is = 1000m so
1.6kms = 1600 meters
a running track total lenght for 1 lap is = to 400 meters
so 2 laps is = 400 x 2 laps is = 800 meters
and if you take 1600 - 800 you are left with 800.
half a mile = 800meters which = 2 laps on a running track
so to run a mile on a track you need to run 4 laps.
so if you had to run 10 miles all you do is remember that for every 1 mile is = to 1.6 km
so you would take the 10 miles x that 1.6 kms and you would need to run 16 kms
cool sweet hope that helps

no, it is 0.505050505050505 of a mile, it does not come out and even one half because you are converting metric to english measurments, meters to miles,
800 is one half mile
1600 is one mile,
3200 is two miles,
5000 is 3.1 miles known as the 5k race in cross country
to figure any amount of meters to mile,
x number of meters *100cm/2.5cm to get to inches then /12 to get to feet/5280 to get miles
in words, meters, multiplied by 100, divided by 100, divided by 2.5 divided by 12 divided by 5280
