ok so i am writing a story...well starting one, and i need a basic understandng of thiefs, pickpocketing and lockpicking in around that time zone when we had carts ect. and also any other thief trades back then, has any one got any information or useful sites? would much appreciate, much thanks

Read Charles Dickens' "Oliver Twist" - everything I know about pickpockets I learned from that!

i don't know much about it. all i know is that if you are talking about the late/mid 1800's, there are a lot of books at libraries about crime then.
