well i like know almost nothing about the Holocaust, but it's still really easy to think of a few good reasons
1. So we, as a changed nation, will not repeat the same mistakes and tragedies. 2. There are still wars going on, but their purpose is more constructive, rather than being for power or something pointless and utterly stupid. 3. We have learned to have a balance in power, so that a single person (ex: president) can't make all the desicions. 4. Also, the history of the Holocaust has helped teach us how bad discrimination (against people, in this case Jewish people) is, and what nature it can make humans create

we should study the Holocaust because we can learn to recognize that there are and always were prejudice people in the world. There are Nazi's in the world today, as shown in American Heritage X. By learning about what happened when one man controlled the minds of thousands of people we can make sure or at least try to prevent it from ever happening again. I think that we should read The Diary of Anne Frank, Number the Stars and Night. These books show us what certain individuals, specifically children, went through and the tactics they used to survive.

Because those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. And in the immortal words of the Nazi-hunter Simon Wiesenthal, "Nowhere is it written that the next victims of a Holocaust must be Jews!" The sad history of the world since he spoke those words is conclusive proof of how right he was. But let the most recent genocides serve as examples: Bosnia, Rwanda, Darfur. I live for the time when we can truly say, "Never again!"

one of the biggest lessons for me that came from the holocaust is the fact that people just stood by and let it happen. people who didnt agree with it were silent, and allowed it to happen. imagine if everyone who disagreed had refused to cooperate? there were hundreds of people in concentration camps compared to the soldiers, even considering the fact that they were weak and that some would die in a struggle, imagine if even they had risen up and fought? it was a huge lesson in the power of fear and scapegoating. the saddest part? that we will 'never forget' but that so many turn a blind eye to the genocide happening today.

it is important to know about this so that this event doesn't happen again, so that those who suffered and died wouldn't be forgotten, and if the holocaust didn't take place, there would be way more jews than there are today.

6 million jewish people died because of their religion and because they were considered different. I think what we have learned is profound: we can't hurt people because they are different. But, if you'll notice, we also learned to spot ethnic discrimination and genocide when we see it beginning. And, those who forgot are doomed to repeat
