I have an average size thyroid nodule in the left half of my thyroid. They are recommending I have half of my thyroid removed. They don't believe that it's cancerous and my levels are all normal except I am producing a little excess thyroid hormone. I would prefer to not have surgery and am worried that I will end up having to take medication afterwards. Does anyone know of any alternatives that may help to shrink my nodule (other than radioactive iodine)?

my family has a huge history of thyroid problems. I am currently treating myself for Graves. My aunt took the radioactive iodine and regrets it every day.
The quick easy way is a simple herbal fomentation. 3 parts mullein and 1 part lobelia (measured by weight). Make a tea from this mixture and soak a cotton or other 100% natural fiber rag in it. Wrap the rag around your neck and fasten it there. Keep it on as much as you possibly can and especially at night. You can cover it with plastic to keep from getting anyting wet. You can wear a turtle neck over it to cover it if you need to go out. It is also very good to drink the tea...at least 3 cups per day. This will work very fast.

Gee, what if it is a cancer? How can you really tell without looking at the cells under a microscope? What if it grows bigger and really gets big? It can give you trouble breathing, swallowing, wearing clothes. Little nodules means there is a nest of cells that are doing their own thing. That is, they have decided to grow on their own schedule. They generally don't stop. It is a whole lot easier to cut it out when it is small than when it gets nice and big. I never heard of an 'average size thyroid nodule'.

I had a nodule, and I had that half removed. I am not on any meds my levels are still normal. So even if you have the surgury you may not end up on medicine. I was back at work in a week after I had my surgury. I had to stay in the hospital overnight but was released early that next morning. My scar is hardly noticealbe.

You proably talking about the parathyroids, if all the levels was normal except the tsh hormone, and it was just a few points different, if the calcium levels was ok, and your not having any problems out of it, i would leave it alone,, get a repeat of the para thyroid panel . and see what that result was. Hope this helps.

Making dietary changes is your first line of defense in treating hypothyroidism. Learn here https://tr.im/Ly7gA

Many people with hypothyroidism experience crippling fatigue and brain fog, which prompts reaching for non-nutritional forms of energy like sugar and caffeine. I’ve dubbed these rascals the terrible twosome, as they can burn out your thyroid (and destabilize blood sugar).

1. Just say no to the dietary bungee cord. Greatly reduce or eliminate caffeine and sugar, including refined carbohydrates like flour, which the body treats like sugar. Make grain-based carbohydrates lesser of a focus, eating non-starchy vegetables to your heart’s content.

2. Up the protein. Protein transports thyroid hormone to all your tissues and enjoying it at each meal can help normalize thyroid function. Proteins include nuts and nut butters; quinoa; hormone- and antibiotic-free animal products (organic, grass-fed meats, eggs, and sustainably-farmed fish); and legumes.

I understand your concern and would be the same way. I wish there was an easy answer to this but there may not be. This may sound very hokey, but if you could find a good, reputable holistic doctor, they would be more likely to help you in a non-surgical way.

Also, just stay as positive as you can, eat healthy, exercise regularly, and just enjoy your life! Best wishes to you! :D
