I think it results in people feeling trapped...

Isn't there an old adage which goes along the lines of: If you love something let it go, if it loves you it will always come back....

If you have to force someone to love you...well it will never happen you can't force someone to love you, like you, or hate you. You just can't do it. but if you do try to force someone to love you it could result in resentment towards you and make the relationship even worse.

When you do that it may seem right but deep inside you will feel something is not right. You will not feel whole. Love is a wonderful experience that sholud be felt between two people together not just one person. Now you can give your love to someone in hopes that they will love you back but dont force it upon them or they will break your heart. Now if you feel as if you are forcing it upon them then just leave and see if they will come after you to test their feelings for you.

It usually ends up with two people being in a miserable relationship. I know a couple where the wife forced herself on the husband they have grown children now. She did all kind of tricks during the years to keep him. I would not want this kind of marriage. I want someone who wants to be with me and loves me of his own free will.

I don't think love can be forced. Love should come naturally, not out of fear or selfishness. In the end, what are you left with? Someone who cares for you (or says they do) because they are scared not to or afraid to tell you the truth.

You can't force someone to love you. You can only force them to act as though they love you. Basically it ends in resentment.

Bitter resentment, which leads to nothing like love. And you can not force someone to love. It has to be both ways.
