As an American whose gag reflex is stimulated at the mere sight or sound of that repugnant little troll who stole the presidency ( George W, Bush ) I am concerned that the world has been given the wrong impression of Americans by the on going string of evil directly attributable to the littlest warmonger. Does the rest of the world understand that in two very close elections ( the 1st of which he and his brother, the govenor of Florida, clearly stole ) less than 40% of the voting age population even cast their vote? Is it understood by that inferrence that no where near even half of Americans condone his villany? And most importantly, do europeans understand that the arrogant, self centered, and extremely intolerant American tourists usually come from our wealthiest class ( less than 1% of Americans ) and are thereby not a good indication of what Americans are really like?

Perhaps I should expand and explain that there is a very large group of Americans who cannot be convinced to vote, as they feel the election outcome is determined long before the election, and their vote simply doesn't matter. No excuse!! I always VOTE!!! If you don't you have no right to say a thing about what goes on. Also there are many of us who are ashamed by the ignorance of some of our compatriots. Did you know that there are people in Texas ( the land of the Bushs ) who actually believe that it is OK for them to be stupid as long as their stupidity conforms to the beliefs held by most other texans. In other words something like this. " It may be stupid, but I'm from texas and thats what texans think."

We in the UK also have leader elected on the lowest ever % of people voting. He's no better in his war record, as he has backed Mr Bush all the way. There are far worse regimes in this world and the fact that that you have free speech and can express your views as you are doing now is testiment to your great nation. The parts of the world that you should really worry about thinking bad of you will do so not because they realise that your last election was a farce but because of their own brainwashing culture, their fundamental belief that their religion/way is the only way, that their god is the only god. As far as how I view Americans... Well... some of the best movies, music, literature, technological and medical advances, comedy and lots of other things have come from your great nation and no idiot of a president can take that away from you. I must, however, say that I am concerned that 55%(that's a lot of Americans) will not accept the fact that the Earth is older than 7000 years old. Many (besides Borat!) have made films throughout your bible belt states, that we see periodically over here, that doesn't show y'all in a particularly good light. However, EVERY nation on this earth has its good points and its bad and quite frankly, I don't know what we would do without you. On your last point though... I have travelled quite extensivly around Europe and have often bumped into Americans and on the whole have found them a pleasant enough bunch.

Relax!!
We've all got the same problems.
Do you think that it is only other Americans that question the activity of their own administration?

Bush is not the only war monger, and not all the war mongers are in the west either.

Many over here think Blair stinks and at the last election Labour won with only about 26% of the total available electorate voting for them.

So chill.
I've met many of your countrymen/women on their visits and can assure you most of them are very far from arrogant and not at all like the caricatures played up.

That's way its funny because it's an exaggeration.

Do you think all 'Limey's' are 'Jolly good old beans'?

I suppose that's true, and I always hope that this site is a poor reflection of americans, because it is frightening how much ignorance of basic science, english, etc., you see on here, not to mention the racism and homophobia, and the belief that america has the right to tell other countries how to live, etc.
It must be very frustrating to be an intelligent, caring american when all these others go out of their way to increase the negative view we hold of americans, I'll admit, I know there are good ones, but I am seriously prejudiced against the majority, sadly an american has a lot to prove to make me trust them. between their international behaviour, their online behaviour, and their internal politics, wow. Sorry for you.

I rather got the impression whilst visiting USA that Mr Bush is not the most popular of presidents in our time. No worries, the majority of the Brits have often been in the same situation with Maggie Thatcher ... and all the rest that followed I guess.
These guys get into power with lots of promises, and then once in they do what they want. I mean apart from Hitler and his fanatics the vast majority of the German Army simply had no choice, if they did not shoot, then they would be shot.
Nothing new in history is there. Hands across the Pond!

I'm Irish and know a good few American's and those I know are very embarrased at Dubya's behavior during and before his presidency.
The Americans I know are decent, friendly, and intelligent people.
Also being Irish I've seen many American tourists over here, and while they may be loud, I would never say they were arrogant.

The fact that Bush got says little. The fact that 60% of the population couldn't be bother to vote speaks volumes

I disagree that there is in basic terms one. The Church of Jesus Christ- Latter Day Saints-(Mormon) is the only that is possibly perfect widespread. The loose Methodist church began August 23, 1860 in Pekin, manhattan. The loose Methodist Church now has seventy seven,173 contributors in the USA and the grand entire international huge club is 736,582. yet another poster pronounced: The community of Christ Church i'm advantageous that there are a number of different small church homes which at the instant are larger exterior the U.S. than interior.

I feel exactly the same about Tony Blair. He isn't what most British people want. He says one thing to become Prime Minister, then goes against everything what he believes in. George Bush & Tony Blair....a conspiracy?
