The chances for a cure depend on what kind of cancer it is and whether it has metastasized or not, and probably the specific mutations of the cancer (specific to that person). I have known a lot of people who have died from it. And, I have known people who lived many years without "curable" cancer. But, it is generally a real tough fight.

Yes, a guy that I worked with underwent chemo and has been cancer free for 16 years. Today, they are having great success treating many types of lung cancer.
