I'm assuming you mean fundal height when you say measure right? My previous OB and now my midwife start measuring at 20 weeks gestation. For every week of pregnancy, your uterus should measure within 1-2 cm +or - of your weeks. For instance, if you are 25 weeks pregnant, your belly should measure about 25 cm but doctors won't be too concerned if you measure a little bit bigger or smaller.

My doctor measured me for the first time last week, at 31 weeks... I don't think they really start measuring, internally, until you start going every two weeks, instead of monthly. He'll/She'll probably just measure your uterus with a tape measure from the outside.

36 weeks typically. Earlier if you are showing signs of preterm labor.
