I would like to turn my computer into a quick vista and gaming ready machine. Is it easy to upgrade it myself?

The quick answer is "Maybe", it really depends on your motherboard/power supply. If it is any older than 1-2 years old, it would be cheaper and less of a headache to just buy a new one.

It's not worth the trouble. I set up a new Dell Inspiron with a Core 2 Duo and 2GB or RAM. Vista was terribly slow. I can't see any machine out there having enough power to make Vista a viable operating system. It's just junk.

Your life would be so much easier (and more enjoyable) if you were to make a Mac your next computer. You'll have the ability to run Windows for gaming, yet the power of Mac OS X for everything else.

Depends if you know what to do, if you cant tell what the difference between a 64 and 32 bit processor is then definatly not, if you dont know what type of equipment your motherboard can handle you will need assistance, but all in all i would definatly get someone to come over and help you (like a relitive or freind) who has done it before.

as in reply to the first comment, that is not true, if you have already not bad specs then you should not go get a new computer from a store, but if your computer is old and crappy then yes you want a new computer, try building it yourself (and a freind) make a project out of it!!

It's easy, as long as your motherboard can accept a faster CPU, and has free RAM slots.
