You can't tell me that whoever's getting called up from Rochester could equal Martin Biron between the pipes. We'll miss you, Marty!

Marty Biron was refusing to play for Buffalo next season. When a player does that, you have no choice but to trade him. If the the Sabres did NOT trade him before the deadline, they would get absolutely nothing for him at the end of the season when he walks away. Thus, the Sabres hands were tied.

Why the Sabres could not get more for him is a bit of a mystery to me, but I regress.

Have you noticed that Marty kept wearing that plain white face mask all season? It was not because he could not afford to have it painted. It was a statement. He was not about to paint it in Sabres colors. He wanted a shot at being a starter in another city, and this was one of his ways of demanding it.

As far as a backup to Miller... I live in Rochester, the home of the Sabres top farm team. Suffice it to say that for the first time in many, MANY years, the Sabres don't have any depth at all between the pipes.

As Miller goes at this point, so go the Sabres.

I am a Flyers fan! Good on the team for picking up a good goalie in Martin Biron. To answer your question, Ty Conklin is a stopgap measure brouught in specifically for the playoffs as a guaratee if Ryan Miller does go down to injury. I hope he doesn't get injured though, he is in my hockey pool.

I'll miss Biron, but this was the right move, both for the team and for Marty. He was gone after this year anyway, and he deserves a chance to start. And with the recent injuries, Buffalo sorely needed more depth. Bottom line, he was too good, and too expensive, to be an insurance policy for Miller. I wish him the best of luck in Philly.

If Miller isn't available in the playoffs, the Sabres are in BIG trouble. The Senators already have their number, but every other team will anxious to play a Miller-less Sabre team. That would be too bad, but this is all speculation. Stranger things have happened.

They will use Ty Conklin who the Sabres signed of the waiver wire a short time after they traded Marty. Ty was signed for $525,000. He's an okay goalie but not as good as Marty. It stinks that we traded him. GO SABRES!

Let's hope nothing happens to Miller. Biron is as good if not better. They are going to regret trading him.

Remember Conklin in his only play off appearance for the Oilers last year? He had .667 save percentage in the game on 3 shots. He handed the puck to Brind'Amour who pirouetted the puck in for the game winner. Cross your fingers Miller stays hot and healthy...

Light candles, burn incense whatever you have to do if you're a Sabres fan to keep Miller healthy.

Hold your breath, I have no faith in Conklin aside from the odd game.

I know it had to be done, but it is a monstrous gamble.

If Miller gets hurt for any long period of time, we can kiss any chance of making past the first round, good-bye. I dont like this trade at all, we could have waited till the summer.
