Start wearing maternity clothes when your regular clothes don't fit. I was really over-weight when I got pregnant with my younger daughter and was able to wear my normal clothes till about 6 months. I'm pregnant now, and though I am still over weight, I wasn't as heavy as I was with my second pregnancy and I had to break down and get maternity clothes at about 12 weeks. Whenever you are no longer comfortable, than it's time to shop. Plus, it's fun to get cute maternity clothes for your belly that is SUPPOSED to be big :)

I have the same problem. I didn't want people thinking I just wanted to look pregnant or something, because at 4 months you're not really that big. It could just look like your belly is big not pregnant lol.
But I found some maternity clothes that looked sort of "normal" so you couldn't really tell they were and it makes me feel better about it.

Wear maternity clothes when you need to wear them. I was probably 4 months when I first started wearing them. People will always have stupid remarks. Something about pregnant women causes people to have serious foot-in-mouth disease. Just be comfortable. Luckily, they have wonderful clothes now for bigger gals - the selection is better now than it was even 3 years ago.

I would suggest you start buying maternity clothes when your clothes start to feel real tight. I know for me I didn't have to buy any maternity clothes until i was about 6 months because i have a brother who is bigger than me so i was able to barrow his clothes for a little bit

Wear them whenever YOU think you need them - don't worry about what anyone else says/thinks - other people ALWAYS have an opinion but you don't have to give it any importance.
I'm 33wks preg and still don't wear maternity clothes - not because of anyone else other than myself. I personally don't like them and i can still fit alot of my pre-pregnancy clothes - i just bought some of my normal style pants in a size bigger and haven't had any issues so far. It suits me this way... so my advice? Do whatever suits YOU and makes you feel comfortable.

You wear maternity clothes when your normal clothes don't fit. It's simple as that. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't wear hoochie clothes when you're pregnant!
I don't think that maternity clothES make you look bigger. I looked very cute when I was pregnant. I was a young mom with all my kids (16 to 23) so I wanted to look cute!
