I have the new MacBook that I got for Christmas, but the thing is I have really, really bad dry eye that I'm trying to fix, and flat-screen computer monitors make it a lot worse. For some reason, LCD TV's don't (I'm guessing because they're farther away, or because the image is bigger so I don't have to look at it so closely) so I want to use my TV to do things like school reports and stuff when I absolutely have to use the computer. I'm not overly computer/electronics-savvy so if you guys could try not to use technical terms it'd help out a lot. Thanks=)

Hi,

VGA to TV converter can be used which are available in market for Converting your Tv as your computer screen.

But the limitation is the clarity will not be of that good as you view in a computer monitor due to mismatch of screen pixels in your tv screen and Computer monitor.

Hope this helps you out.

Note: This is technically explained but if it is hard to understand no issues just ignore this. This is just for an added information.

To summarize, a VGA to TV converter can be used to translate the VGA's RGB signal to a TV compatible signal for resolutions up to 640x480. This means that the vast majority of VGA/DOS games will display reasonably well on a television since most use 320x200 or 320x240 video modes. Converters that claim to handle higher resolutions have scan converters in them that reduce the effective resolution to that of NTSC or PAL television. i.e. You simply can't display better than 640x480 on a TV.

If your TV has an "RGB" input (it's a connector shaped like a "D" that has 15 pins in it) you should be able to connect the output of your computer directly to the screen if you have the right cable.

I'm not a Mac user, so I don't know what cable you need or whether you can hook an external monitor to a macbook though.

Yes, SOME TV's can be used as a monitor, especially newer tv's. If your TV is 5 years old, probably not much chance, tho.

Sure, so long as it is an HDTV with a 15 pin VGA or DVI input.

If your video card has an 's-video' out. you can connect it to your t.v. with an 's'-video' cable.
