It depends on your judges or audience. If it is a fairly youthful audience or judges try something current and Not something you necessarily like. But it needs to be popular so people know it and also that you sing it almost better than anyone else! What do you sing best? What are you comfortable with? Do you look ridiculous as you sing it? Get impartial opinions from people you don't know! If you are singing to an older audience pick something more like a standard or classic song.

UMM well it depends how your voice is and what your range and pitch is umm i would say sing anything that you enjoy singing because as a singer myself I love singin songs that show off my voice like Amazing Grace but i give it my own flavor try singing songs with your own style instead of the regular way thats what judges like to hear if your voice is strong try christina aguilera if your voice is timid try slow songs like destinys child or swv and if your a fan of gospel try slow songs like i love the lord or why should i feel discouraged
