England is very safe. If you are traveling from the US then your parents shouldn't worry. The rate of violent crime in the UK is very low compared to in the US. Even London, which is huge, is very safe. Just use common sense and follow the same precautions you would in any city. Don't wander around in dark, unpopulated areas at night, don't use unlicensed cabs (if a cab driver approaches you and asks if you want a cab he is unlicensed. Proper cabs won't do that.) Keep you valuables out of sight. The biggest risks are purse snatching, pick-pocketing and mobile phone theft.

don't worry my sister had her honnymoon there when they had all that trouble with the subways and she saw cops everywere but it was safe just think. Same rules aplay when you are abrode as when you are home. Every place has its bad and good spots find were you should be carful from the school. Even here you have to be carful on campus at night so same there not the place its the people doesn't matter if you are in a big city or a small town just use your head and you can have tons of fun. Your parents are proberly scared because you will be so far away so offer them a web cam so you can talk for free and offer to talk to them at least 5 minutes a day or 30 minutes a week as long as they know you are alright this should help.

By and large it's safe to travel to England. As with most countries there are some parts of England that are best avoided but as a tourist it's unlikely you'd be in these areas anyway.
By comparison to the US England is a very safe country although by comparison to the rest of Europe it's not particularly safe. That said, instances of violence and the like are fairly few and far between but do be on your guard in some of the popular parts of London including the underground where pickpocketing, handbag (purse) snatching and mobile (cell) phone theft can be common.
As with anywhere, a few common sense precautions are needed, don't flash money around and keep valuable items out of sight.

England is probably safer than the USA. I was watching the BBC and South Londoners were mouring a few shootings that they had over the past few months. But if you go to Southeast DC, parts of LA, or parts of Brooklyn or the Bronx you can get that many shoots in a week.
It's England, not Iraq. You'll be fine. The cops there don't even carry guns.

England is very safe. I've visited many times and find that in large cities, the british are generally more security/safety conscious than the average american. Of course, there are differences from place to place in the UK, just like anywhere else.
If you take reasonable care, it is not particularly dangerous.

Depends upon where you are living. As we do not have a gun culture and most people get along with their neighbors, you are probably safer in even a large UK city than a small US city. What security fears? What safety fears? You people are fed on too much fear from your government and your media. The best thing for your grow to see the real world.

Are you talking about crime in general or about terrorism? Also where are you staying? Areas in England differ as much as those in the States.
Let me know the specifics and I'll tell you whether your parents are right to worry or not.
