Either thermostat or you are low on antifreeze/coolant, cheap fix one way or the other. If you are low on coolant, use Bar's stop leak original to plug it without ruining your cooling system. Good luck!

Suppose it could be the thermostat, if in doubt, take it out and run the car without it for a while. The water pump could have failed, some pumps are still belt driven so check the belt. If all else fails and you have the system filed and no leaks, disconnect one of your water pipes leading into the dashboard bulkhead and, with the filler cap removed, hold a hose pipe on the pipe you have removed and flush the whole system out thoroughly as it may have a blockage. DON'T JOIN THE HOSE just hold it in-place, if you join it to your system and turn on the tap, the pressure will most likely burst the pipes and create a leak, so just hold it in place so you can monitor the pressure. If your very careful and not a novice, by gently pressurizing the system you will also see leaks easier, that is however if you do have one.

Check you're coolant. You may have a leak. If it's low, be sure to use anti-freeze and not water. Do it quick, ... if you are low on coolant you could seriously damage your engine running it that way.

Then see if you can find the leak and have it fixed.
