I am pretty pale (not extremely)- in the summer I get tan, but I tend to burn first. How long should I stay in the tanning bed? With how many days in between (if any)? Thanks!

P.S. I know tanning is bad for the skin.

Ok, no one on Yahoo Q&A should answer this for you. When you go to the tanning salon, they will have you fill out a questionare baised on your skin type and tone, then they will score it and they will suggest how long and how often you should go. Trust what they tell you, they are the experts!

Good Luck!

Well, when i started tanning, like 4 months ago, they let me stay in for 10 minutes, then I gradually worked my way up the scale. Now I'm at 17 minutes. Oh, and if you want a really good tanning lotion, it's called "Love Junkies" and it's in a brownish bottle with a silver top. Hope this helped!

Oh, if you have one, bring your iPod into the Tanning Bed with you. It helps pass the time!

Make sure that you use a salt or sugar scrub before you go to tan so your skin is exfoliated and moisturized, and the lengh of time varies from person to person, but they usually have time charts in the tanning salon also. And you go back when your tan stats to fade, which can be 2-3 weeks.

Dont go tanning! I am pale as well, and I used to tan all of the time. In tanning beds, and in the sun. And, I got skin cancer. Good thing they caught it in time. Im 22. It can happen. Its not an abstract thing that happens to other people. It can happen to you. Personally, I would rather be pale and here than six feet under...

Please don't tan. Its worse than you think. For one thing, you will get all wrinkly skin and look like an old dried up hag while you are still young. For another it really can give you skin cancer and that can be deadly, a friend died of it. So please don't tan.
