Well, this is when people are figuring out WHO they ARE! A lot of people want to fit in, and there might be something wrong with that person, so they are mean to other people to make those people look stupid so no one will see how bad the mean on is. A lot of people get picked on and they allow it, instead of asking the person why they insists on picking on them or having someone ask them. They just try to avoid it which gives the "picker" more power and shows them that no one will try to stop them so they feel powerful. It does get better in College, if you go to the right schoo that is. But rise about the MEAN people, and tell them to get over themselfs. Well take care, hope all works out for you.

People are mean in high school because they're all insecure and the easiest way to take the attention you think you're getting fo ryour flaws is to focus it all on someone else. It gets a bit better in college because you all have more freedom and there are generally enough people there that you aren't forced to associate with those kinds of people. Unfortunately, the only real difference between people in high school and people in college is a couple of years, so there are still people who haven't grown up enough to act their age and let go of the petty BS.

It does get a little bit better in college, but it depends on which college you choose. A woman was mean to me in my P.E. class. (it was a graduation requirement). Just because I took that same class with my sister, so what? So, she was a *****. That was the last time I saw her around campus and I went to a community college. Don't let the mean people get to you. Ignore them.

It does get better....but it still exists in the workplace, mostly because some women become stuck in a high-school mentality forever!
I graduated HS in 1979, and it was the same waaaaay back then!

Yes, a lot of the back-biting does subside, but 'politic's" are part of the human condition, no matter what age.
You'll be more independent in college/university, and leave HS ways behind...far behind.
