Are Captain Hook & Peter Pan the same person?

Ok, I've been reading up on it and all I found was that they are played by the same person .. but I grew up believing (look at me, I'm acting as if this is real) that Mr. Darling was the grown up Captain Hook b-cuz:
1) Hook was banned from Neverland .. and therefore he gew up
2) At the end Mr Darling is shocked to see the ship (in the shape of the clouds) and says that he has seen that ship before a long time ago when he was very young.
Any thoughts on this?

You know, nobody’s ever asked that before….

It would not surprise me. The problem with time travel, and meeting out younger selves, is that we KNOW it didn’t work…! Otherwise, we would not try! Maybe we should ask Robin Williams….?

That doesn't seem possible, because when Peter Pan first takes Wendy to Neverland, that would imply that Mr. Darling was already old because he is her father, therefore he would not be in Neverland when Wendy arrives....which is obviously not true. When Mr. Darling sees the ship, it might be alluding to the fact that he too has experienced the same things as Wendy. But that's just me....
