How about writing about Melisende Queen of Jerusalem. Its a very interesting story. She was the last female ruler of Jerusalem and some people think the reason that the crusaders eventually lost jerusalem to the muslims. I'll give you a brief description.

Crusaders took jerusalam in 1099. She took power in 1131 and ruled for 22 years. There was some dispute with her son taking power and the son let it go for soooo long. Eventually he got tired of her crap and her son lead a military campain against his mom's army and took over. Anyway, jerusalam was in such disrepair because of this division, it was forbidden to ever let a woman rule again. Eventually the Son and mother forgave each other and she became one of his advisors. There was another woman later that was supposed to take the throne but was immediately taken off by...ummm I dont remember...her son or husband i think. But basically crusaders were starting to go downhill, and you have to wonder today....If she never ruled or gave up her power when she was suppose to (there really is alot to this story) Would muslims have ever taken jerusalam and would the religion be as strong as it is today? Maybe there wouldnt be as many terrorist attacks if their numbers were not as great. An interesting topic to research anyway.

Try Emily Davidson. She was a women's civil right activist. She jumped onto a horse track and was run over. She did this for the cause of women's right to vote. This would be a good person to do a research paper on.

Queen Elizabeth II - the drama, the intrigue, the vast estate, the responsibilities of keeping her brats as sane as possible. Her life under the limelight - 24/7.

Nefirtiti - she knew how to flirt her way into power. cleo did that, too but i think nefertiti is more interesting. i mean she's wealthier, was percieved a god, caused an art revolution (in her days), destroyed the monarch. she did everything!

Jane Addams is very interesting. She was a leader for social reform and founder of Hull House which was a haven for the poorest of people in Chicago. She was a member of NAACP and a Nobel Peace Prize winner.

Here is a site with a LOT of historical women figures:

I've always liked to write on Anne Boylen because no one thinks of her. She was the second wife of Henry VIII and she did mother Elizabeth I. SHe was a headstrong woman who said "No" to the most powerful man in the country. If she had given in to him too early then she would have been just another mistress with a basterd child, and yes she did endup giving in by the end but she made him wait for years and got lots of money and property in the mean time.
