I asked this of a friend who was a manager at Starbucks. Yes, all the answers that said cold! Bottled could be better, or preferably filtered. Bottled water has no regulations on it, so it could be from the tap somewhere. Cold water has less (junk) in it, because it holds less. Its a physics thing. It will taste better, promise. Just keep good tap or filtered water in the fridge. The more minerals in the water, the less time it should spend in the frige. It won't "spoil" but it doesn't work as well. Good luck! and enjoy...
Oh, unless the pipes are very old, or something is very wrong, there shouldn't be lead in the water.

If you're using a coffee maker, use cold water. You shouldn't drink hot tap water because lead from the solder leaches out in hot water (the water also sits in the hot water tank for a long time so more lead has a chance to get into the water supply).
If you're making instant coffee, start with cold tap water also.

Hot, but not boiling as this scalds the coffee.

Do not use hot tap water , that stuff runs thru the furnace and can contain harmful agents that can cause a type of poisoning .
