The yellow light flashes for a very quick split second. It's almost as though the button isn't making the connection. Any suggestions?

The power switch is a possibility, but I doubt it..they usually work or they dont. If your light comes on, it works. It is much more likely to be your power supply. Those cost about $50 or so and are not that hard to replace.

Your Power Supply Unit (PSU) the box where the power plugs into is dead, take it into a computer shop and get it fixed. You will not lose any files when the fix it. Or the box has a switch on it switch it off and on that will reset it.

If you cannot turn it on from the on/off switch from the back then you probably need to repalce it.
