emails are sent in plaintext, ie. unencrypted. so no, not really.

the email could be easily intercepted at any point on the internet between your computer and theirs, as it passes through many machines to get to the destination server. it takes only one comprised machine on a network sniffing through emails for passwords, credit card details, bank details etc for your details to fall into the hands of someone you don't want to have them.

it's very unlikely given the sheer volume of emails sent per second in the world, but it is more than possible and does happen.

No because your information can accidently arrive in a strangers inbox who can do alot of nasty things with your information, be intercepted by attackers en route because it's plain text and shared on a message or a newsgroup with thousands of people.

Copies of e-mails and newsgroup posts are always stored somewhere on the Internet nothing is truely deleted online
I can go back and find stuff I wrote on 10 or 15 years ago on Fidonet or Usenet with a google search so your e-mail wouldn't be difficult to find with enough digging by a determined attacker
who knows what he's looking for.

There is a small risk to any unencrypted email that an attacker could intercept and read it. If you want known safe email, get PGP or GPG.

NO. Be very careful about mail you send over a POP3 server.
