Every time I log on to Yahoo!, I see the two percentages that read "Dow" and "Nasdaq". I'm not an "economy" kind of person, and I have never gotten this. Could someone please explain to me what these terms are, and why there was such a sudden drop on it today? Why is it a "dark day for the dow"?????

The Dow (better known as the Dow Jones Industrial Averages) and Nasdaq are indexes of stocks. They are a broad measure of how well the economy is doing by measuring various stocks.

When a bunch of the Dow stocks go down in price, the percentage goes down, and it would create a "Dark Day for the Dow". Don't be too worried about it because the dow goes up and down and unless it goes down several days in a row, we have nothing to worry about.
