I put water in the tub (it's a jet tub or whirlpool - I don't know the difference) and just to see what would happen I pushed the button to turn on the jets. Then I turned it off and everything was fine. Long after I finished my bath, while in the other room, I heard a loud sound, like a jet taking off, and ran into my bathroom where I found the jets had come back on. I hurriedly put water in the tub as I've been told it's bad to have the jets on without water being in the tub. I kept pushing the button but the jets wouldn't stop running. I looked under the tub for a shut off or on/off switch but couldn't find anything. Then all of the sudden, the jets went off again - again for no apparent reason. I had to leave for work but left the water in the tub, just in case the jets came on again. Has anyone had this happen to them? Any thoughts on what's going on and/or how to keep this from happening again? Should I call a plumber or electrician for repairs, if it keeps happening?

sounds like there is a short some where. call the electrian. also there should be a cut off switch somewhere. Mine is on my wall outside the bathroom where the tub is situated. Yours have got to be somewhere, as most whirlpools have their own circuirt on the circuirt breaker and a separate switch that controls it as it cases like these.

The jets are controled by a vacume switch. It is likley the switch is worn out or damaged. You would need to contact the manufacturer for instructions on what to do next. They will either send you the part or tell you to hire a plumber to replace the part.
Also until you get it fixed, Flip the breaker off. It shoud be on a circut by itself.

It does sound like you need to call someone to take a look at it.

Simple, the ghost living in your house wasn't finished "his" bath yet. Talk to "him" and get it a bit more co-ordinated so you don't 'spook' yourself in the future.
