I think its between Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. What do you think?

I think Black Sabbath is more metal than Zeppelin. I'm a BIG Led Zeppelin fan, but I don't always think of metal music when I think of them...they are more "bluesy" than that. But, influence on music in general I'll have to go with Led Zeppelin. If we're talking strictly metal music, then I guess I would say Black Sabbath.

Motorhead! Led Zeppelin for sure more than Black Sabbath. Not that Black Sabbath wasn't Great but Black Sabbath signaled the birth of the death of heavy metal. I don't think that anything on the radio right now is heavy metal. Unfortunately - heavy metal died.

I think you're right on the money. I'd have to lean more towards Black Sabbath or even Deep Purple though. Also "The Who" actually held the record for the world's loudest band at one point, which was key in early stages of heavy metal. Jimi Hendrix should probably be mentioned as well since he's one of the first to experiment with distortion which is also key in heavy metal. Peace :p

I'm gonna have to say Zeppelin. Even Sabbath borrowed a tune from Zeppelin's Dazed and Confused on their song Paranoid.

You would have to ask my boyfriend who is nuts about Heavy Metal music.
He`s been a hardcore yet laid back headbanger for about fifteen years now.
But I think he would say Black Sabbath & Ozzy for sure.
