Happiness is being content and pleased with what you have. Nothing will ever be perfect (It would be incredibly boring if it was, anyway). But for the most part you can be happy by simply deciding to be happy. Appreciate all the things you have and wonderful people in your life. If you can't think of anything then go out and make something happen, join something, do something, meet people, make a difference.

Happiness comes from within. External events cannot always be controlled, and are transient and imperfect. If instead you intend to be compassionate with every act, you will find more things to be happy about.
In the end, it all comes down to how YOU think about something. If something sucks, you could be pissed off about it and fume. Or instead, you could realize that anger only spends energy but doesn't help solve the problem (even if it does, it did so inefficiently because your mind is not calm, thus not rational). If you look at a bad situation and try to find oppurtunity in it instead, you will again find more to be happy about then you would otherwise. It's a matter of choice, though it can be difficult. I recommend a book called "Happiness" by Matthieu Ricard. He's a chemical biologist-turned-Buddhist Monk. He participated in some brain studies where the monks would meditate while getting scanned by a fMRI. The study showed that those who were practiced in meditation had their positive and happiness regions of the brain light up way above normal. Matthieu's scan was higher then any other record in the world, so he's q good authority on the subject of happiness. He claims it is a skill to hone. Check it out (linked in sources)!
Good luck!

if you make something out of what you get in life im sure that will be enough or if you think what you already have is enough than you will be content. happiness, i think, comes in many forms. maybe in a new pet or getting an A on a math test or being with loved ones or watching a favorite movie, happiness can be anything you want it to be. and the true meaning, i think you will find by experiences. i dont think you should look for the meaning of happiness, instaed just live and you will meet with it one day.

It depends on what your personal definition of happiness is. For example, in Alicia Keys' song, If I Ain't Got You, she sings about people who live for physical possessions and herself, living for her man and love. However, if your definition of happiness requires extraneous physical possessions or some other insatiable desire, you will never find true happiness. You will never have enough. The meaning of happiness in my definition is being happy with what you have, even if you could have better, you never desire more than what is necessary.

You buy something, you get bored of it.
You earn something, it collects dust.
Theres always someone richer, stronger, faster, smarter.
What is that stinking hole right in the middle of us that keeps us discontent
Doc Holiday said it best in the movie Wyatt Earp. He said Ringo had a hole right in the middle of him and no matter how many people he killed he would never fill it.
The happy people are those who have a transcendent cause that is bigger than them.

things don't make you happy it's just stuff that collects dust and the true meaning of happiness is knowing Christ Jesus and living in him and the farther because out side of GOD there can not be any true lasting happiness

[52:20] And He will say to them, 'Eat and drink with happy enjoyment because of what you used to do.'
[7:44] And We shall remove whatever rancour may be in their hearts. Beneath them shall flow rivers. And they shall say, 'All praise belongs to Allah who has guided us to this paradise. And we could not have found guidance, if God had not guided us. The Messengers of our Lord did indeed bring the truth.' And it shall be proclaimed unto them, 'This is the heaven to which you have been made heirs as a reward for what you did.'

From a Buddhist point of view, no you will never have "enough" until you decide to let go of all your worldly attachments and be satisfied with nothing except spiritual growth.

Happiness is spending your hundred-ish years on this planet in the way that you choose and being aware that you and you alone are responsible for your choices and your happiness.

wanting- the true meaning of life is wanting. without want we do not excel, what would be the point? you dont want to get anywhere, or anything- why work? why breathe? because we want things. we desire things. its not greed, its the constant desire to make your life and the world around you better.
