this just started recently could it be a wrong setting or bad graphic card?

Garbled sound will not be caused by a bad graphic card, so this sounds like a motherboard issue to me. The motherboard has a chipset on it that requires the correct firmware to make things run smoothly. This is not the same as the microprocessor; it's the chipset that defines how your motherboard routes and handles data.

Figure out which chipset your motherboard has, go to that company's Web site and download the latest firmware for that chipset. (Intel is one manufacturer of these chipsets but there are a couple others.) This is a moderately advanced process, so if you're not fairly knowledgeable about computers, you might want to call in a geeky friend.

the guy above maybe knows what is but it sounds like the dvd player is running at too high of a speed.
