I'd like to make some archival backups. What is the best software for working around protection issues etc. Im running XP. Thanks

decrypter and shrink were the best imo but they are no longer supported and so cannot copy newer protections the best i know of currently would be DVDFab Decrypter

I've used both DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter with success on most protected movies. Be careful to look for free versions of "shrink".. some try to get you into some service, but it is supposed to be free

I use DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter, I got mine from http://www.softpedia.com ...just search for DVD Shrink and then just download it...
