Not as often as i used to, and yes, though i enjoy travelling very much, its difficult to be unfamiliar with your surroundings, no matter how comfortable you are with the people, your friends, they are not your family, you dont trust them as well as you do the people who taught you how to survive.

Through the day/week I try to see my friends at least once per week - however - Night times I am housebound as I feel to threatened to go out in the winter. However, on special occassions I will go to a venue via taxi both ways - even then I am constantly aware of my surroundings and more aware of events that could happen - ridiculous state of affairs but this is down to lack of community spirit.

Years ago I found I had the ability to look at a place I knew very well and yet (somehow!) see it as if it was new and an an alien place to me.

And it did feel 'scary' ~ until I let this thing go and let it slip away.

Your question (Headline) wasn't the real question, was it. I wonder what it actually is!

I'm not afraid of anything save my maker, I guess when you've lived through most versions of hell not much gets your attention.
I am always vigilant even with aquaintainces, there are only two people in this world I call friends and I trust them with my living as well as my dying.
I see those two as often as I can, they are my family and they lift me up.

hardly ever. my work schedule is different than some friends, and some aren't married like i am, so things are harder to arrange. plus, i've moved from NJ to FL, so i don't get to see the many friends from there anymore. i miss them all, but can't help it.

my situation is very different from yours, i guess. i don't travel with friends.
