My room is the smallest in the house, and it gets hot in the winter because the heat is turned up to properly heat the bigger rooms in the house.

I tried opening the window, but it's still hot.

The heat comes from a pipe that sticking out of the floor.

Is there anything that I can cover the pipe with to keep the room cooler?

For sure, use some tin foil (from the kitchen) and cover a part of the pipe. I would leave a part open or you'll cool yourself out of the room...

Insulate the pipe with Arma-flex (pipe insulation). It will help keep the heat in the pipe from radiating into your room. Find out what size the pipe is and get an insulation with a good wall thickness. The thicker the wall thickness, the better it will retain the heat.

yes its calle a heat register or cover they are usually on the floor or the walls in a house to regulate the flow of cool and hot air if the pipe is shaped like the end is square then go take a ruler or a tape measure and check the opening size then go to the home depot and buy a new cover that has an toggle to adjust it on the side it will screw into the sides of the opening or take a camera phone picture of it to the depot and show someone at the commercial desk

You can try stuffing a piece of cloth down the pipe or a piece of insulation or foam.
