Yes I would, I could not watch somebody I loved suffer and watch them lose their dignity and self-respect.
Obviously I would have concerns regarding the law and what might happen to me, but what about the human beings that has been denied a right to end their suffering because of a law? To be honest I would not hesitate if I had been asked by someone I adored to assist with euthanasia. I would do what I had to in order for my loved to find peace and end their suffering even if that meant a criminal conviction. There is no right or wrong answer because we all have people/ a person who we would do absolutely anything for but yet we are all taught that 'killing' people is morally & socially wrong and inhumane.. Why should someone choose whether you are going to be pain, watch your family hurting and let the last memories they have of you be associated with sadness. Make you lose your identity and allow you no choice and control over your life. Is it not more cruel to ensure a person is kept alive to suite social issues? Personally I think it is. We all have rights,so what about the right to end your own life and the right to have the dignity and respect a human being deserves? Afterall we come from a society that will not allow animals to suffer, so why let a person?

Only in the case that they were paralized in a vegitative state.. I'd tell the doctor to pull the plug.
Personally, I think people should have a right to decide, specially in cases involving a cripling disease.
In any other case, I would try to talk them through and out of it. The way I see it, we are all dying, life is terminal. You can think you are going to die from a terminal form of cancer but instead a car accident does you in.. you never know. I'd be there for that person and if they feel the need to take it into their own hands, so be it, I would stand by their decision.

i dont know if i could. i'd have to be in the midst of that particular emotion to answer that. but i would be inclined to the yes more than the no.
would i consider the after affects. yes. would i put their wants first...mostly likely yes
i dont know what other countries do...define their 'euthanasia' give an example please.
people to choose to die instead of receive medical care for a terminal ailment...yeah if the death was eminent. whatever is most peaceful and comfortable. people begin dying the moment they are born. modern medicine has prolonged lives that 20 30 years ago wouldve seen an earlier death such as stroke and heart attack...a normal and frequent cause of death. i see death as a natural occurance in all of its forms....the medical community seem to think it 'abnormal' to age! When i hear ads claiming this or that is the number whatever cause of death and what to do to prevent it...i hear...uh huh and how are they going to prevent death? it is inevitable in all its sorrowful ways...but it should be dignified certainly.
peace

I think i would be very painful to be in that situation but i would not play god. If they wanted to take more morphine to make them die faster then i would turn a blind eye and sit with them.
I do think people have the right to a dignified death but think it is unfair to involve other people in the decision.
Sometimes you also have to wonder about whose best interest euthanasia is done in...when all is said and done you would only have the alive person to ask

Yes with out a doubt. I am training to be a nurse and I see how much pain children are in. I am sure that if given this question most parents of terminal ill children who are in constant pain and are going to die , would willingly help there child

well, if it were me dying of a terminal illness I would want help to bow out with dignity so....yes! I would also help a loved one that asked the same....BUT....it would only be with the understanding that this had been discussed long before the illness took hold.
I've already discussed this with my children & my eldest son now 31 has begged me to help him if the time ever came to it. It would be the hardest thing I've ever had to do but I hope if that time came I'd keep to my word. I'd have to I think as I've already promised & I want him to keep his promise to me......
Yes, I do think we should allow euthanasia....as long as it's done in a controlled way & not just something one decides to do because they feel their relative should now be dead.......the only way to ensure this is to have it legal with legal forms & the such signed before hand....again great care needs to be taken that the now very ill relative hasn't changed their mind.....very difficult subject to adhere to properly though don't you think?

yes I would. I do know of someone who travelled to Switzerland to commit suicide, this person had motor neuron disease and had deteriorated quite rapidly over their last 12 months, they discussed their decision with their partner and told their child what they intended to do, this person didn't want to eventually end up in a vegetative state and wanted to be remembered for how they were before their condition, as I was one of their carers I was quite shocked at their decision, but as it was, is was THEIR decision and I respected that. This is a choice that should be made by the person who wants to die in their own time and in their way.

I'd like to think I would. But taking your words exact "help to kill themselves" I hope I could provide the ways and no more. Is it selfish not to, because you want them there with you for as long as possible with disregard to there pain.

Sometimes a person has to do what they think is right. But I must warn you. There is no dignity. The person leaves behind a rotting courpse.

I would help them and deal with the legal consequences later. Everyone has a right to a dignified death.
