I don't think you can really answer this question? I seen this question on a online computer proficiency quiz. What is the correct answer or is there a correct answer?

Well, whatever is the highest ram *currently* will likley change in time.

Or course, technically, the maximum amount of 'physical' ram (see below) an individual computer (again, see below for more on that) can accommodate is entirely dependent on the motherboard specifications. My assumption is that you're referring to personal computers, but there's also large corporate network servers to consider. And what of "supercomputers", in which dozens to hundreds of weaker powered computers with their own individual ram are collectively networked to be used as a giant multi-processor?

P.S. Just because a system has an x amount of ram doesn't necessarily mean that ram is being utilized to the fullest. And even if it were, at least on personal computer systems, the amount of *physical* ram can be exceeded by cutting into pre-allocated hardrive space for *virtual* ram.

Considering all the above, I believe the only sensible reply is "indefinite".

Jea, that question makes so not mutch sense, like how big a car could be.

But what the author probably meant was.
What is the maximum adressable (usable) ram size.

And this is quite simple, the physical usable ramsize is limitied by the adressrange of the computer.

If the computer is a 32bit Computer, you can only use

2^32 = 4294967296 Byte = 4 Gigabyte of Ram

Well, there is no specific to that question, because a RAM keeps on increasing it's size as technology develops... right now the highest so far are 2GB RAM or 4GB RAM... later on it doubles its size to meet the demands of latest software and hardware...
