Yes, you can (at least in Illinois)--talk to your school counselor about the work permit, and I would go to smaller, Mom and Pop places first as they are more likely to give a younger person a start.

No, in most places the legal age is 16. The more important question though, is why do you want to? You are at a very important time in your education, and should concentrate on that, and enjoying your childhood while you still can. If you really need more money, you can probably negotiate with your parents to raise your allowance in exchange for taking on extra responsibilities. You would have to be really consistant and reliable though. Show them that they can depend on you. If there is a specific reason why you need money that you need to talk about with someone, you might try your school counselor. They tend to be very resourceful and can help you with almost anything. Also, you might try babysitting or yardwork for extra money. Just a reminder, don't do drugs and stay in school.

The only job i could get at 14 was paperboy. That sucked! waking up at 4:30am to deliver papers til 6:00am. I don't think a fast food joint would hire you. Y would you want a job away way ur 14, you have LOTS of time to work and get a job, HAVE FUN!

You should read Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosson, if you are looking to fill your free time.

Most every one in here is going to say no, but I worked at a restaurant when I was 14 y.o. but I had to have a work permit and could only work just a few hours,.........I will let you guess what my job was? If you guessed that I was the dish washer you would be right. When I was a kid a work permit came from the school department. The next thing that you should do is check with your student councilor..........good luck

If you need a job you should get a permit at your school.....they give permits to students but you must have good grades and the approval of your legal guardian. Most places do not let people underage work so it may be hard to find a job unless you stick to school campus.

It also depends on State and City you live. You should ask someone at the school office I am sure they can help you somehow.....besides you need to go there to fill the paperwork for the permit.

Good luck!!

It depends on what state you live in. I was able to start working at the age of 15 with a work permit. In California you have to have at least a 2.00 GPA. I would look up labor laws for your state.

You might be able to get a work permit at that age, but it all depends on your state and parental permission. Also the restaurant might have a policy where they do not hire minors. Good luck.
