Great question. In many, many cases it is their own fault. I believe very strongly that people have much more control over their lives than they think. However, things can happen that are outside of one's control. Here's an example: if you are drinking & driving, have an accident and are paralyzed, it is your own fault. If you are an innocent driver and an intoxicated person crashes into you and you become paralyzed, it's not your fault. Of course, I think "karma" is plays a huge part....I believe that people often have troubles in their lives because of they way they choose to live.

After they become an adult, yes, it usually is their own fault due to bad judgement calls. They should know better by then.

yes, but then again not really. There are so many things that can go wrong with your life that you didn't know were going to go wrong and you may not have caused it at all. Take abuse for example.

Yes because you decide what to do in your life, so if things don't turn out the way you hoped or planed you are the only one to blame.

Yes, by circumstance or choice. There is a saying: point a finger at someone else and there are three pointed back at yourself.

yes i do. i think people make poor choices and then have to pay the consequences. the bad thing is that many don't see it that way and then get upset because bad things are happening to them "for no reason."

Absolutely, although most people have no idea how close they actually are to sleeping in a homeless shelter.
