I hope Lester comes back healthy and ready to pitch at some point in the season, which would allow Papelbon to move back to the closer's role where he dominates.

Well the Boston Globe reported that Johnathan Pablebon would be willing to be the closer again if no one can fill the space. But Boston doesn't see him back there. They want to protect his arm, it's easier on a pitcher with scheduled starts not every night. So they are leaning towards Pinero.

No. It's going to be a competition between a bunch of scrubby players like Joel Pineiro, Mike Timlin and Julian Tavarez.

They will go back to Papelbon once they realize they forgot to sign a legitimate closer in the offseason.
