Why do people throw shoes on powerlines??

It has nothing to do with drugs. People say that because they show shoes on powerlines at the beginning of Friday. Why would someone who sells drugs put a sign out front? Once the cops figure it out, you can't go outside and take the shoes back off!

I think it's just something that started in lower income areas. Some kid took the shoes off someone else, tied them up and threw them over a powerline, just to be mean. Other people saw it, thought it was funny, and did it themselves. No one throws their own shoes up there, you do it to other people.

if you see shoes on a powerline, that symbolizes that a certain gang is running that neighborhood, so other "prospectors" need not move in or they will face the repercussions...or it can mean someone died in that area, and the shoes are dedicated to that person, usually a gang member, but i think the gangs base what shoes to throw up there on their actual colors.

Drug houses? What? It's just a way to mess with someone. If someones being a punk or a nerd you take their shoes and throw them up there. Now they don't have shoes. Then you laugh at them while they run home to tell their mom on you.
