Well, I have to get braces very soon...and i'm really nervous.

+does it hurt when they put them on/take them off?
+what are the best kind to get? the WHITE ones, or what?

I was thinking of getting the white ones cuz I guess they're not AS BAD as the silver/metal ones..

I would advice NOT to get the clear because then it just looks like brackets on ur teeth, and even one can still see you have braces it just looks really weird, and a lot of my friends who got clear ended up getting them change. They dont hurt when they put them on though the next day you may feel really soar but not for more than two or three days and sometimes not even that. When they take them off you feel so weird cause u can actually feel the smoothness of having no braces and ur smile is gorgeous. I loved my braces and you will learn to too

Hey I have braces the clear kind:)
1. It doesnt hurt when they put it on or take it off
Its just after a few hours of your braces being on your mouth becomes soar from the tightening.
I think the most painful thing I went thru when having braces was the spacers they put inbetween your teeth for a few days but only some people have to use these.
2.The best braces to have are the classic metals ones (they work the best since they have been around for the longest time)

Clear braces like the ones I have are good for college kids like myself. If your in highschool go for silver

I am going to be honest with you braces hurt when you first get them put on it is because they are pulling your teeth which are inside your jaw BUT it is not as bad as everyone makes it seem they hurt a bit when you get them tightened other than that no if you have an overbite and have to wear the rubber bands that hurts and if they use springs on your braces it will hurt as well but that depends on how bad your teeth are also i would get the metal ones anything you eat or drink (spaghetti, dark soda, chili, kool aide etc..) will stain the clear braces 111 good luck and don't be scared think of how pretty your smile will be when you are done!! P.S. ask them for wax to prevent blisters on your lip

braces and stuff like that since third grade i am in 8th grade know still a brace face. DO NOT GET CLEAR BRACES! no matter what they tell you you cant eat a load of colored foods or they turn funny colors until u brush they will tel you it is not true .it happened to me last year. And food stands out a lot more on those. it also looks like you have not brushed your teeth in 5 years. silver is the way to go and avoid yellow and orange bands it makes your teeth look discolored. it will hurt a little and your lips will get cut up at first so orajel is a must. stock up on mashed potato's pudding applesauce or any soft food your teeth will hurt to the touch for about a week no one will think of you as a freek alot of people have them and it you have had metal in your mouth as long as i have you will grow to like them to some point.
~ bace face 4 ever~
PS: advil is asome and a very good friend

Don't worry so much. It does make your teeth kind of ache when you first get them on, and your mouth is not used to having things on your teeth, so there will be some rubbing. The tightenings make your mouth hurt for a few days, but it's worth it.

Definitely don't get the white ones. It makes your teeth look like you have piles of stuff on them. The metal aren't so attractive, but you can use all different colors of rubberbands on them. This makes them a little more personalized. Most people have had some kind of straightening done to their teeth, so don't feel self concious. In a few years you'll have gorgeous, straight teeth and will feel like a million bucks. By the way, wear your retainer once they come off. Teeth can shift afterwards.

Good luck!!

Braces are really no big deal. Your teeth will ache a little bit for the first couple days after they put them on/tighten them, but some Advil takes care of that. The white ones are actually worse. They don't like to stay white, and then look gross. Wear them with pride, you will have a very beautiful smile in no time!!

They don't hurt until they tighten them. The one thing to look out for is the fact that when a person wears braces the braces force the teeth to move and that causes root damage, so ask a little bit more before you decide to wear braces :-]

i just got my braces a month ago they dont hurt
i got the new ones so i didnt get to choose the colors but i would go with white 2 make them less visible but there r lots of good things about them like i brush my teeth way more (like 6 times day) and i had the habit of biting my nails but thats gone now because the brackets get in the way and the obvious one straight teeth
so its not all bad

Does it hurt... know! not when they are being put on. afterward, your mouth might feel a little awkward, but not painful. it also might be a little difficult to eat, so for lunch i reckomend:
a yogurt-no chunks!
applesauce
pudding
and other soft stuff
the white ones are not bad, but neither are the metal ones. braces do not automatically mean:LOSER! plus, you can change the color and its fun! don't worry about whether or not it will affect your social status cuz it won't!
hope that helps!

They arent bad at all....It will hurt a little when they first put them on change the wire, etc. But other than that, they arent bad. I say go with the metal ones and just have fun with all the different colors they have. good luck, and youll have a beautiful smile soon
