This idea is definitely against my fiscal beliefs, but it seems likely to happen as things keep going the way that they are. So, to the redistribution of wealth experts, how would it work? That is, if it happens.

It will only happen in the USA when hell freezes over.

If????

It is happening.

Social Security, Welfare, Tax rates based on income, Medicaid, Medicare, Earned Income Tax credit....

Over half of the federal government spending is wealth redistribution already (compared to only 20% for military AND the Iraq war).

Now some wealth redistribution is needed for social stability, but at some point it is excessive. I am not sure we have completely passed that point but any future where it goes too far will be just incremental growth of existing programs.

Bill Gates and many others would have to be thrown into gulags when their wealth was confiscated. Then when redistributing that sunk the economy and destroyed most wealth anyway, they would have to start taking the upper middle and middle middle class to the gulags to redistribute their wealth. It would continue on until everyone was equally poor and the "redistributionists" would finally declare it a "just and moral" society.

It won't work and is not right. Communal welfare is a Marxist idea and goes against our fundamentalist principles of democracy. If this happens, then we can assume that the federal government will meddle more in our lives and the rich will be taxed like crazy. The ones who don't work will be happy to receive money and this will create a welfare type state. If you make more than a 100,00 grand they will tax it like hell to give it to others. You won't be able to protest it just go along with it.

It's already happening - firefighters, police, the military - none would exist without redistribution of wealth. Also highways, roads, sewers etc.

Is it a bad thing to take care of our old people and our disabled people?
