The easiest and best looking are not the same, but some good ones are Java Fern,Java moss and Anubias. These plants do not require roots in the substrate,(they won't do well at all this way). They grow best attached to driftwood or rocks in the tank. They will all grow in fairly low light(but slowly),and are very easy to care for, only rarely needing pruning. Also they are not very expensive. Try DrsFosterSmith.com for some advice.----Good luck, live plants make a tank more enjoyable.-----PeeTee

If you have a florecent light on a tropical aquarium hornwort will grow without any trouble. You will have to weight it down or it will just float on the top.

We have anacharis and java moss in ours. It looks pretty and it is sooooo easy to maintain. As a bonus the Java moss keeps the nitrate levels in the tank down.
