I'm 22 weeks pregnant, and trying to get my shopping done early. I have looked at tons of cribs but they all seem to be over $150, or they are made of metal, and look completely flimsy and unsafe. I did find one on the Ikea website that I like, but there's no Ikea in my city, or any cities close by. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have been to Value Village, joined a freecycle group, look at a few websites with local classifieds, and can't find anything decent under $100.

thanks sapboi, $100 is a lot. I'm not working and my boyfriend makes only a little more then minimum wage.

Our moms are also both very poor, and our dads are both very selfish so I doubt I'll get help from the grandparents.

Yes, spending a little more to get something of a better quality would be fabulous, but not feasible at all for us.

I got my crib from freecycle.org. It's a nice crib. Give it some time and post your interest in a crib and maybe something nice will come up. Otherwise, I haven't found a decent crib for anything under $500. Personally, I don't like Ikea furniture.

HOWEVER, try out the Arms Reach Co Sleeper if you would like to have the baby sleep in your bedroom.

There aren't that many out there under $100. I got mine at Target.com and I think it was around $150. My Mother-in-law got it for me. I haven't put it together yet (baby is going to be in a cradle when first born).

I knew that I at least wanted a new crib - you need to be careful with used ones as they may not be safe for your little one. It's worth spending a little extra knowing your baby will be safe. Just like you don't want a used carseat.

Maybe you could ask your mom and/or mother-in-law (baby's grandparents) to help you out with the price of a crib. Most likely they will want to get you something for your baby shower and you could tell them what you'd really like is a crib or some help to get one.

Maybe check out some "baby & me" programes in your area. You might find someone in the group looking to get rid of theirs. Put up some flyers in your grocerie store (or any store) with your number on it asking for people who want to get rid of cribs. But playpens work just as well, they are cheeper, move-able and some people like them better. Good Luck

Put it on your registry as your #1 pick. (You can order it from ikea online, right?)
Look on ebay too. Or check out the manufacturer's website and see if they sell under other brand names.
Good luck!

We got a nice white wooden crib at K-Mart for $100. I'm pretty sure it's still $100. Try there.

Most Ikea's will ship if you had your heart set on the one you saw there. You also might try eBay.
