Yes, I paid for them, got them home, and tossed the receipt because I was not going to return them. A few weeks later as I was hanging them up I discovered the security tag on the leg. How do I get it off without trying to bring it back to the store?

Do not try to take it off. Chances are that the security tag contains some type of ink that will be released upon any type of damage done to it. Although you tossed your receipt, you should take them back to the store. Chances are that the store is going to be able to look up the receipt in their system, especially if you paid with the credit card. If you paid cash, call the store, ask to speak with a manager from the department that you purchased the clothing from. They'll be able to help you. This happens all the time and stores are usually happy to admit to their mistakes and take the blame.

Buy another pair exactly like the ones you have. Keep the reciept. A few days after purchasing them, take the ones you now have to the store with the reciept and have them remove the tag. After another day or two, return the second pair to the store to get your money back.

If it's one of those plastic ones, you can always hammer the hell out of it against a hard surface and shatter it to smithereens. it's not like fabric can shatter. If it has metal components, it can get tricky, but most heavy duty pliers will do the trick. Go to Home Depot or some other place that obviously doesn't sell clothes (so you dont risk being accused of stealing pants, lol) and clip the loop.

i think you have to take them back or be real careful taking the security tag off because one time i bought some shoes and they were white, i had the same problem as u, and i popped the security tag off with a butter knife and i craked the securtiy tag and a dark black or blue substance came out and stained my shoes....

They are supposed to take those off when you pay for them. My friend had that happen to her, and when she tried to take it off it ripped the jeans. Also, in some tags, they are filled with ink, and hers had the ink inside of it, so that stained them to where she couldn't take it back even if she wanted to, and also stained the carpet and her hands. Just get off your butt and go to the store!! LOL...<3

Moral of the story: Save all your receipts, which you should be doing for everything anyway, cuz you never know when there will be a rebate for something and you can get money back for something you bought.

Call up the store you bought it from, and explain the situation to them before you get there. They'll be more likely to believe you. Most stores should remove it for you - after all, it was their fault.

You cant. They may have die in them that dosnt wash off, or you could rip a hole in them. Call the store and explain what happened and they should be nice enough to let you take them in to the store.
