You get a foundation 1-2 shades darker than your normal skintone and pat it on the sides of your nose to create shadow, then use a shade lighter than your skin tone (with a little shimmer) and swipe that down the center of your nose, stopping at the tip. This gives the illusion of a more narrow nose.

To make your nose appear smaller, the answer is shading. You will need to obtain one foundation or concealer that is lighter and one that is darker than your current skin tone. You will need to have a blush that is also darker and one that is lighter than your current skin tone.
Place the lighter concealer and blush on the tip of your nose and along the bridge. Place the darker concealer and blush along the side of your nose and slightly onto your cheeks. Blend the two along the side of the nose to avoid noticeable lines. Cover the entire area with a loose or translucent powder that matches your skin tone to set the concealer and blush for a lasting look. You will need to practice to achieve the best combination of shading for you.

Use your blush in a shade darker than your natural complexion, go with bronze for olive complexion or pinkish if you tend to have a pink complexion, to shorten your nose bring the shading short of the tip. To elongate your nose, shade till the tip, to narrow your nose, shade from eye corner to nostril end on the sides of your nose and just use finishing powder on the bridge of your nose.

Take your blusher brush and follow straight down the slope of your nose. Make sure not to overload your brush with blush ...do it last after applying your blush to your cheeks.
