Your parents are right to stay away because getting lice is not fun not to mention expensive to get everything sanatized. I know she is your friend but she needs to take care of her self first ,maybe you can suggest to be friends online only. Sorry.

It doesn't matter what 'color' your friend is ... I'll bet that you were both 'exposed to lice' at the same time, not that you 'caught them from her' because she's dirty. Most 'school kids' get lice at least once in their school careers ... and if your friend has gotten them once she may be having a 'hard time' getting rid of them, and that is NOT a good reason for you to 'stop being her friend' ...
Go to the school nurse and ask her if she can do a 'school wide education' on 'head lice' with papers that you ALL can take home about them to give to your parents ... and ask if she could have some 'supplies on hand' to give out 'free' if the kids want them and have lice, because they are quite 'expensive' ... that would take the 'bad' out of it for everyone, not just your best friend ... and you should still be 'best friends' with her even if your parents don't want you to ... 'lice' just happen, and it's not because of 'race' ... and to be a 'good friend' sometimes you must hang with someone who 'scares you' because they've got 'something' that you're afraid of ... but you are not 'afraid of' your friend, are you?

well first of all i really thought black people didn't get lice that much but to be on the safe side you need to protect yourself use some lice shampoo and treat your house hold things pillows blankets ect. then find a loving and appropriate way to ask your friend to treat her hair and let her know it is okay to get lice its just not okay to keep it. Getting lice is not about how clean or dirty you are in fact lice prefer clean hair the can jump up to 15 ft. anyways i think your dad is going a little overboard about the whole situation you don't have to be mean to people about things like that just try and help them make the right decision to protect everyone involved. she probably didn't choose to get lice maybe her family cant afford to fix the problem and maybe she might be scared and embarrassed about it i would say be the friend god wants you to be and try and help her in a loving way

Um... What does the color of her skin have to to with her health or whether or not you can spend time with her? Tell your parents to chill.
Anyway, if you want to hang out with her: do it. Like it was said above, lice and mites are curable-- you know that, you've said you already had them. If she can't get treatment because she's low-income or something, buy her a bottle of shampoo and let her take a shower at your house.
BTW, if she wears her hair in dreads or cornrows, she WILL scratch her head a lot because the hair is pulled very tight. This doesn't mean she has bugs :) Tell your parents a white girl who's had this done told you that.

If she's that good of a friend, you should tell you you think she has lice and should have her mom check her for it. If she does have it and doesn't know it, you are being a good friend by telling her so she can get treated. Lice are hard to kill, but it can be done and it needs to be done.
Once you tell her, tell you mom and dad that you told her about the lice and that her mom is going to fix it up. They shouldn't have a problem with you hanging out with her if she is lice free.

First off it does not matter what race she is, grow up here. The lice thing could happen to any of your friends.Your dad was trying to protect you. First check her out closely and see if she is still scratching her head a lot. If not she may be cleared up . IF not stay away until she cleans up her act.

This seems like an odd thing for you guys not hang out together, just tell her to get a treatment, lice are not permanently in a person's head.

if she has dandruff white stuff would be all over her shirt if she has lice you sould see bugs if she has nitz you sould see white eggs all over her head! tell your dad she used special shampoo and conditioner to get rid of it! and if you are the lying type tell him a lie but there is a thing called FREEDOM they can't kepp you away from your friend no matter what she has even if she had aids you can still hang with her at school unless your parents are teachers but if she is back at school you two can hang out and just call each other when you get home!

Interesting.
Black people rarely get or transmit nits or lice; the way most black people do their hair is inhospitable to that type of creature.
Sounds like you two should cool it for a while, though.

African American ppl have totally different hair types and totally different skin.. Their skin gets easily irritated and have to use special creams and special shampoos. Keep that in mind. Your friend is just different and if you're afraid to catch hair lice remember that we all have had it.. Like the first guy said...they're curable....hurting your friend isn't
