Always wash clothes on the cold water setting. They make a detergent just for the cold cycle! Also, use the lowest heat possible on your dryer. Cleaning out the lint trap helps to keep drying time down to a minimum. I've also noticed that shaking out your clothes, instead of keeping the all balled up as you get them out of the dryer, helps a lot!!

Checking the labels, 100% cotton and wool shrink, so if it is 50 % non
shrinkable you are OK. I wash everything in cold water with cold water soap. I don't buy fancy like angorra, alpakka or fancy types as they may need hand
washing or drycleaning. Read manufacturors tags when you are shopping.
Don't wash shrinkables in the washer, if you do wring them by hand or in a bath towel.

wash it in cold water and hang dry it. if you place cotton clothing in the dryer (with any amount of heat), you will run the risk of shrinking it especially if the cotton isn't already pre-shrunk.

no hot water, no dryer... simple... also, some clothing will shrink if you iron it, so you really do need to check out the label...
