Customer special ordered some tile, and insists that 10% of the total was not included in the box. The vendor disputes the customer.

The only proof is the word of each party, and the customer's willingness to drive 1.5 hours (roundtrip) to claim just $30 worth of tile.

Go to the customer's work site and investigate. Count tiles.

The store should give the customer the tile, this time. If the same customer does this repeatedly, then NO, they are scamming you and looking for a free ride.

depends on how that can be proved, and whether or not the customer is a valued one. If it happens often then someone should be fired. The store should/could probably eat the loss if its for a good customer who does lots of business.
