Aaaaaaaand .... my theory is that Snape was still "good" -- that Dumbledore was saying 'please, please' because he wanted to be killed for some reason. There must be some bigger-picture magic going on.
For sure, Dumbledore didn't misjudge Snape -- you can bet that Rowling wouldn't do that -- there is something bigger going on and Harry will probably be a long while figuring it out!!!
