They are more comfortable..really.

I drive a brand new Volvo S60 and it is really like driving on a cloud. I did not buy it for the status at all, I happen to like Volvo's and their saftey features.

This car is fast and safe, my three year old son has curtain airbags and pocket airbags in the back bar by his head.

Not to mention all of the little things that make it nice. Like the way the door glides open, the navigation system, bluetooth technology and ipod adaptor...I just like it and feel I got my moneys worth, you know.

Now on the other hand, buying a ridiculously expensive car like in the 100k range, is silly to me and is all about status.

Rich people will say comfort.

Others will say status.

Some people have enough money to buy nice/expensive cars that they really don't need. They just want.

On a lower cost level, jackets from the thrift store will keep you just as warm (for a lot less) than the lastest fashionable coat/jacket.

It is all a matter of perspective.

Personally, I drive a beat up 1995 Chevy pick up truck. I could afford a nicer/more expensive car, I just choose to spend my money elsewhere.

many people insist on buying new car because they want to either show off or they just want to feel good and have a high self steem when they drive around in their cool cars. but what they dont know is that car's value decrease as time passes by because the car is not fancy enough in that year and new cars come out that have better features : )

you get what you pay for.

I am still driving my Mercedes Benz that I bought in 1992. I have done nothing to it, except oil change, tune ups, serviced the transmission, and other routine maintenance. It has 140k miles, and have no problems cruising at 80 miles an hour.

Because they're sometimes worth the money, and some people value their vehicles.

Like me. It's a question of priorities. I live in a crappy neighborhood in a cheap house and we have no kids. Vehicles are important to me, whether they have 2 wheels or 4.

So that's where I spend my disposable income.

BEcause they are careless with their money and enjoy blowing it all on stupid things that they don't need and then wonder why they don't have any left for important necessary things like health insurance, rent and food.
