I'm in the process and find the society in Uglies very interesting. At 16 you get an operation and turn Pretty, and your job is to party, party, party! Tally, the main character, wants to be pretty, but something else is tugging at her as well when she meets Shay, a girl born on the same day. Shay knows about people "out there" and she has friends that have run away. Tally doesn't really want to go, but when Shay disappears, Tally is told she MUST find Shay or face a life of staying Ugly.

I have the other two, Pretties and Specials, waiting. It had so many great reviews on here and was in a genre I enjoy. This type of story reminds me of Lois Lowry and her trilogy - The Giver, Gathering Blue and messenger. I also read The Green Angel by Alice Hoffman. It's a real quick read, which is a bummer, because I want to learn so much more about this society.

Yes! Tally is a great person. I mean she wasn't sure after Perry turned pretty, but then she met Shay. I like Shay's character. Outgoing and defiant. I mean, the next two books are more exciting, but the whole Smoke thing is pretty good. I just wanted to keep reading. I'd recomend these books to almost anyone!!

I haven't read it and neither have any of my freinds. A suggestion for u is to go on www.sparknotes.com or www.bookrag.com and see if you can find the book and the summaries if this is what u are asking for =).

Good Luck
